Lost Vape Q-Ultra Pod Vape Kit Review

Lost Vape Q-Ultra Review

The Orion series from Lost Vape has been one of the best lines of vape devices in recent years. Thankfully, the Q-Ultra kit lives up to the high standard of its predecessors for the most part.

While it may not have a DNA chipset like its older brother the Orion Plus, the Q-Ultra still offers plenty of features that help vape users to truly personalise their vaping experience.

Lost Vape’s Q-Ultra pod vape device offers an incredibly affordable, high-end device that should suit practically every vapers’ needs.

Lost Vape Q-Ultra Kit

Lost Vape Q-Ultra Kit

The standard Q-Ultra kit gives you exactly what you need to get started. While this kit offers little in the way of replacement components or additional accessories, what is here is of very high quality.

When opening the box for the first time, you will be immediately greeted with the Q-Ultra device itself.

You’ll likely notice its size and shape first as it does look a little cheap, especially when compared to some of its competition currently available on the market.

Two coils are included in the kit, one 0.6-ohm coil and one 1.0-ohm coil. These coils can be fitted into the device and removed with ease.

A USB-C charging cable will be included in the kit as well. Sometimes, the Q-Ultra kit also includes a lanyard that can be attached to the device.

The Q-Ultra has a maximum output of 40W and has an internal 1600mAh battery. This device utilises a replaceable coil pod system that has a built-in capacity of 3mL, so the coils included in this kit won’t last you too long.

While the Q-Ultra does have a built-in 0.69-inch display, only a puff counter, wattage indicator, resistance indicator, and battery indicator are shown.

Adjusting the wattage is easy, just use the “-“or “+” buttons on the device to decrease or increase the wattage.

Design and Build

The first thing that needs to be mentioned in relation to the design and build of the Q-Ultra device is its size and shape. Simply put, the large size and the awkward rectangular shape will be a put off for many vape users.

While it doesn’t affect the device’s overall performance too much, the design of the device is admittedly quite ugly, especially when you compare it to some of its competitors who consistently produce sleek-looking vape devices.

Additionally, the Q-Ultra feels quite cheap. The plastic used to make this kit looks and feels quite sub-standard, making the device feel as though it could break at anytime.

While it is true that the Q-Ultra is meant to be a cheaper option, the build quality and design are simply not good enough for a Lost Vape kit.

Lost Vape Q-Ultra Mod

Lost Vape Q-Ultra Mod

The Q-Ultra mod itself is fairly standard. As previously mentioned, the mod has a built-in 0.69-inch OLED screen that indicates what wattage the device is set to, what battery level the device is on and what resistance the device is currently set to.

You can adjust the wattage of the device by clicking the plus or minus buttons at the bottom of the mod. To adjust the airflow of the device, look underneath the drip tip of the pod. This dial should be easy to adjust.

The mod also features a built-in 1600mAh battery that is easily charged via a USB-C cable.

There really isn’t much else to discuss about the Lost Vape Q-Ultra mod as it does not have any additional modes or features. This will obviously be quite the let-down to more seasoned vapers who expect a little more customisation from their vaping experience.

On the other hand, new vape users are sure to enjoy this device as it is very straightforward to use and still offers customisation via the adjustable airflow and wattage.

This should introduce new vapers gradually to the vaping scene, letting them explore some of the more simple aspects of vaping.

Pod & Coils

Lost Vape Pod and Coil

As mentioned above, the Q-Ultra uses a pod system. The pod in this kit slots into place confidently and can be removed with ease by pressing the switch located on the side of the Q-Ultra mod.

When the pod is clicked into place, it will remain there with no issues at all. The transparency of the pod allows you to see exactly how much e-liquid you have left.

The Q-Ultra pod has a capacity of 4mL and can be refilled within seconds. All you need to do is take off the metal cap located at the top of the pod and carefully pour e-liquid into the hole revealed. The large size of the hole should make refilling the pod simple.

The coils included in the Q-Ultra kit are designed to be replaceable, meaning that their lifespan will not be long but replacing the coils will be cheap. The coils included in this kit are not compatible with the prior Orion series models.

Two coils are included in this kit, one round wire coil with a resistance of 1.0-ohm that is designed to be used with MTL vaping, and a mesh coil with a resistance of 0.6-ohm that is designed to be used with DL vaping.

Performance

Performance

The pre-installed 0.6-ohm Mesh coil is at its best when used with standard nicotine e-juices. In general, the flavour produced from this coil is excellent, and the direct-lung draw is effective and smooth.

For those who prefer a mouth-to-lung vape, the 1.0-ohm coil does the job well. For vaping nicotine salts, you should use the 1.0-ohm coil, but try to only use salts with lower strength.

While the 1.0-ohm coil is just a regular round wire one, the flavour it produces is surprisingly good. The main downside with both of these coils, however, is that they will both lose effectiveness within only a week or so due to their replaceable nature.

It should also be mentioned that due to the cheaper build-quality of the kit, E-juice can occasionally leak out of the pod. However, this seems to only be an issue with the 0.6-ohm coil, and it doesn’t happen all the time.

Pros and Cons

From reading this review, it may seem as though the Q-Ultra is not all that great, but that is simply not the case. There are plenty of pros and cons associated with this vape device:

Pros:

  • The Q-Ultra has a modest 4mL capacity in its pod
  • Both the wattage and the airflow can be adjusted
  • Both coils included in the kit produce a good flavour
  • Mouth-to-lung vapers and direct-lung vapers are catered for

Cons:

  • Build quality is poor overall with cheap looking and feeling plastic
  • The pod can occasionally leak

Verdict

In summary, the latest Q-Ultra model from Lost Vape is a solid, if somewhat flawed device.

While some vape users may not get past the cheap build quality and the Q-Ultra’s lacklustre design, others will find it a surprisingly decent and powerful device that produces magnificent clouds with rich flavour.

And while the pod may be prone to some leakages, this only occurs occasionally and does not detract from the solid vaping experience that the Q-Ultra provides on the whole.
