It feels like almost every other week Geekvape releases a new Aegis vape product. Thankfully, these products tend to be of high quality.
With every new iteration, Geekvape provides new features, improvements and helpful little quality-of-life changes that make each subsequent experience better than the last.
The Aegis Boost Plus is the follow up to the original Aegis Boost that launched back in 2019. The new Boost Plus offers a few distinct improvements on the initial Boost model.
A bigger and better battery, a larger screen and a greater e-liquid capacity all make this a greatly improved vape kit product.
Geekvape Aegis Boost Plus Kit
The Aegis Boost Plus kit included a whole range of quality contents. Of course, the kit includes the newly improved Geekvape Boost Plus mod that we’ll talk about in more detail in just a moment.
The Boost Plus pod is also obviously included in this kit. Two coils are included in this set, a 0.4-ohm mesh coil and a 0.6-ohm mesh coil. A spare drip tip is also included as is a USB cable that allows for easy charging.
It should be noted that the kit also comes with a user manual that clearly states exactly how to use the device and how to construct the kit.
Newcomers should find this manual very simple to understand and should have absolutely no problems when it comes to constructing and using the device.
The kit has a multitude of built-in output modes. These modes include a temperature control mode, a bypass mode, and a VW mode. This kit utilises fully adjustable airflow rings and push-pull coils.
As all other Aegis products are known to be, this kit is fully waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof. Similarly, this kit has an overheat protection function that ensures that the coils and battery within the device do not overheat.
Design and Build
The first feature of this kit that is sure to be noticed immediately is its fairly large size, especially when compared to the prior Aegis Boost models.
The size is just one of the reasons why this device feels so durable and sturdy in your hand. As previously mentioned, the whole kit is entirely shockproof, dustproof, and waterproof, making it the perfect kit for travelling.
The device has a leather-covered grip made from foam that fits comfortably in hand. The 0.96-inch screen on the device is easy to read and is clearly lit, making selecting options simple and easy-to-follow.
Geekvape Aegis Boost Plus Mod
The Aegis Boost Plus mod itself feels substantial. Its bigger size allows it to feel right at home in the palm of a hand. The functionality of the mod is superb, offering a whole host of output mode options.
Whilst these functions can be a little confusing and somewhat difficult to initially select, you will get used to it eventually.
Navigating the menus of the mod is relatively simple, the LED display being easy enough to read and the buttons on the mod providing quick access to device’s many features.
This mod allows you to adjust your desired wattage easily from 5 watts to 40. This mod details the resistance, voltage, amps, battery level and puffs that the device is currently set to.
The pod, which we will discuss in a moment, can be easily removed. All you need to do is press a button in on the back of the device and slowly pull the pod out.
The battery compartment features a simple yet effective screw cap that keeps the compartment entirely waterproof when closed.
Because of this, the cap is sometimes a little stiff when trying to be opened. A flathead screwdriver can be used to unscrew the cap should it remain stuck.
Geekvape Aegis Boost Plus Pod
The pod used in the Aegis Boost Plus is incredibly easy to use. To fill the pod, all you need to do is carefully remove it from the mod and pull the plug out of the top.
This plug is located behind the drip tip. You can then use an easy top-fill method to load your favourite e-liquid into the pod.
As the hole is not located above the airflow, like on previous Aegis models, no e-liquid will end up being forced back up. The liquid levels can be easily seen on the pod, allowing you to keep track of your pod’s contents at all times.
The drip tip on the pod is compatible with 510 models, and a standard drip tip comes included in the kit as well as a mouthpiece-style drip tip.
The Boost Plus pod is definitely an improvement on the previous iteration of the Aegis Boost.
Performance
The Boost Plus, as previously stated, comes packed with two pre-built coils. These coils have a respective wattage of 25-33 watts for the 0.4-ohm coil and 15-25 watts for the 0.6-ohm coil included in the kit.
These coils are manufactured using KA1 Kanthal, a great conductive material that allows the coils to gain heat quickly whilst ensuring that they do not overheat.
For the best possible high-power vape, try using the 0.4-ohm coil and setting the device on its maximum setting (33 watts). Then open the airflow completely and take a hit.
This should produce the perfect vapour in a short amount of time, one that retains all of the e-juice’s flavour. This experience should remain consistent throughout the duration of the device’s use.
It should be noted that the 0.6-ohm coil is still excellent and produces a high-quality vapour, but the 0.4-ohm coil definitely produces the best results.
True temperature control is not really possible with this particular vaping kit due to the Kanthal mesh coils being included rather than a TC compatible wire.
However, TC compatible wire can be used in conjunction with this kit if you really want it. If you often create your own vaping products, then maybe look into getting a 510 adapter so that you can put your own atomiser into this device.
Battery Life and Charging
This Boost Plus kit utilises an external 18650 battery. When you need to replace the battery, all you need to do is unscrew the cap on the bottom and remove the battery inside.
This cap should be easy enough to remove but maybe a little stiff at first due to the waterproofing feature as previously mentioned above.
Generally speaking, an external battery tends to give the device somewhat extended battery life.
When the device needs to be charged, simply plug the micro USB cable included in the kit into the device’s charging port.
Pros and Cons
Here are a few of the main pros and cons we have found with the kit:
Pros:
- Easy to remove and fill the pod
- Waterproof, shockproof and dustproof
- Sturdy and reliable design
- Fits comfortably in hand
Cons:
- Battery cap can become stiff due to waterproof design
- No temperature control compatible coils included
Verdict
Overall, the Geekvape Aegis Boost Plus is a definite improvement on the previous model. Its bigger size offers certain reliability and sturdiness that was not all there in the prior design.
Similarly, the easy to remove pod, convenient airflow options and various output modes ensure that this model is a modern one, and an effective modern device at that.
The benefits of this kit out way the cons by a long stretch, making this a great, if somewhat standard, vaping option.
